Nepal’s Earthquake

In the spring of 2015 Nepal experienced a devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3, 18 km southeast of Kodari. The earthquake shook Nepal to its core, toppling centuries-old monuments and engulfing Mount Everest’s base camp in an avalanche, killing more than 8,000 people. International aid was slow to arrive to Nepal while helicopter support delivering aid to mountain villages was stretched thin. Hundreds of thousands of people were made homeless with entire villages flattened across many districts of the country.
